Chris Welsh began his tenure at Mako in 2001, after roles at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse in both London and New York. Initially serving as a Strategic Advisor alongside Founder David Segel, Chris later assumed the position of CEO in 2007. During his leadership, he successfully navigated Mako through the challenges of the 2008-2010 Global Financial Crisis while building a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to trading. By 2018, Chris transitioned to a Non-Executive Chairman role at Mako, working with CEO Trystan Morgan Schauer and supporting the leadership group.
With an academic background in Economics and multiple investment management qualifications, Chris brings vast expertise across various financial domains including alternative assets and private markets. His governance skills have been developed across an array of directorships and advisory roles, emphasising stakeholder engagement and responsible capital management.
Outside the office, Chris is an active sports enthusiast. He is also passionate about developing talent through mentorship and a culture of continuous learning and inclusivity.
